196 – The Kingdom of God III

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

MATTHEW 6:31-33 KJV

The idea that there is a kingdom of God that we are to seek as the verse above commands implies that there are other kingdoms and indeed there are. The bible speaks of the Kingdoms of this world which can also be called the Kingdom of men. There is also the Kingdom of Darkness which is ruled by Satan and his princes (principalities) as Ephesians 6:12 and Colossians 1:13 say. Daniel 4:17 shows that while God sets the basest or the lowest of men on these thrones as He wills, there is a realm above these for those called the Holy watchers, who have the right and ability to influence the Kingdoms of men. These watchers are those, like the prophet Jeremiah who plants kings and remove Kings, Jeremiah 1:9-10. These holy ones are also those who war against the kingdom of darkness that influences the Kingdoms of men. Hence, in Revelation 11:15, when the final battle is won, there was a cry saying “The kingdoms of this world has become the Kingdom of our God and His Christ and He shall reign forever”.

This is the Kingdom we are to seek, the Kingdom of our God. Jesus mentioned that we are not to move like the gentiles move. One who is a child of God must seek to understand, enter and inherit the Kingdom of God. Yesterday, we read from John 3:3-5 that being born again simply gives us the right to see the Kingdom of God. For one to enter the Kingdom of God, they need to be born of water and of the Spirit. This is because there is an awareness that the Spirit of God gives a believer, when they are born again, that there is another realm of life. The moment you are born again, the Spirit of God comes into you, as Paul says, whoever does not have the Spirit does not belong to Christ, Romans 8:9. However, we need to go beyond seeing to living by the Word and by the leading of the Spirit. We are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling as Philippians 2:12 says.

Jesus also mentioned that for one to enter the Kingdom, they need to repent and be like a little child, Matthew 18:3. This is the result of working out our salvation. Like a child, offences do not mesmerize and this individual who has a change of mind to become like a child will live above a lot of nuances that affect christians today. Jesus also mentioned that our righteousness must be greater than the scribes and pharisees, who live hypocritically and preach but do not live by the Word of God, Luke 11:39-48. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus warned that “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven“. It is not enough to be born again. Being renewed by the washing of the water of regeneration via the Word of God and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit as we follow His lead is what gives us the ability to enter the Kingdom of God, Titus 3:5, Ephesians 5:26. That is, living by the Word of God and following the lead of the Spirit is what enables us enter the Kingdom of God.

In Luke 22:29-30, Jesus said “And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, [30] that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” It is the Father’s good pleasure, not only to show us the Kingdom, but that we may enter and inherit the Kingdom of God. The charge to us is that we do not just have faith and leave it fallow, we are to labour to enter into this Kingdom . As James 2:16-26 says, by works, faith is made perfect. Not the work of the flesh, but the work of faith which is obedience to God’s word. Beloved, the Kingdom set before us is great and the promise is great, labour to enter and inherit the Kingdom. Let this be your chief quest and Joy. It has been given unto you.

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank you for bestowing on me a Kingdom that will never fail or be overthrown by any other. It is your pleasure to give me this Kingdom. Father help me to diligently live by Your Word and follow Your Spirit, that I may not only see the Kingdom, but I may enter and inherit this Kingdom as a Son of God. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Blessings Beloved 👋
