134- Jehovah said to Adonai (An exposition on psalm 110) -1

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. [2] The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. [3] Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Psalm 110:1-3 KJV

Psalm 110 is very interesting for various reasons. It is a conversation between Eternal ones. There are a couple observations to be made in our exposition of this chapter. The first thing is to note is that psalm 110 is a prophecy and prophecy is secondary. The voice of God is primary. God speaks and man prophesies, Amos 3:8. The second observation is that David was transported in the Spirit to hear a conversation between the eternal Spirit and Jehovah Adonai. Moses who came some 3500 years after the recorded human creation was privileged to hear these a conversation between these two persons that happened before he was born. Moses heard clearly in the Spirit where the Lord said “let us make man in our image” Genesis 1:26. Similarly, David was transported in the spirit to see what took place after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was 700 years before the event happened that He was given this prophecy. This means David heard a conversation that had not taken place then, but would take place hundreds of years afterwards. In the conversation, the Eternal spirit was speaking to the Lord our saviour, our redeemer, our Master. He beheld the glory of these two persons and he took what he heard and put it into a song.

Jehovah said to Jesus, sit at My right until I make complete the business of making Your enemies Your footstool. While many translations, including the King James version translates this as “Right hand”, there was only one throne. God did not ask Jesus to sit on an alternative throne on the right hand, but sit at “my right” on a place of Power and glory as seen in Revelation 5. He that is our foundation is also the one who sits on the throne. So complete was the work that was done in laying Him as the foundation that He sits on the throne. Another thing to note is that, the Lord is sitting in glory, expecting that His enemies be made His footstool. There are two classes of enemies. The first class are enemies of God after the fall, but conquered to make such a one a worshipper at the footstool. This was the case of you and I. However, He that sits on the throne went forth conquering and to conquer. He conquered us.  The total conquest of your soul and the crown of His victory over you life is on His head. He is wearing many crowns knowing that He has conquered millions of people via redemption. Such enemies would be made worshippers. The other class of the enemies are the incorrigible, who will be cut off and destroyed.

Romans 5:8-10 says “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. [10] For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life”. Paul in Acts 9:1-31 was an enemy of God, but Christ overwhelmed Him and turned Him to be a worshipper at His footstool. He was breathing out threats against the church and God made Him, his footstool worshipper in His presence. Like we’ve seen, we will worship at His footstool as Psalm, 99:5 says. This is essentially saying “we will give You rest when You stand”. The Lord will stand upon the earth because of the feet company of the body of Christ. We will be the body of people through whom God will stand upon the earth in this last hour. Making enemies His footstool was not just speaking of the initial salvation alone, but the complete and total capturing of these individuals, bringing everything in their lives in obedience to Christ.

David, after seeing and hearing the plan of Jehovah in Psalm 110:1 turned to Adonai, Jesus, and began to prophesy to Him by the Spirit. He was speaking for the Father, therefore, Psalm 110: 2 David called God “MY LORD”. He said “The Father will send a company of people out of Zion. These company of people are from all tribes on the earth yet of one tribe. They have come to mount Zion and Your Father is working on them. He will send them out of His presence. This Zion is not the physical Zion near Tel aviv. It is Zion that  is spoken of in Hebrews 12. They are called from many tribes and are shaped to a single tribe. When this rod company of people, taken out from all the world begin to go out, then what was communicated in verse 1 will become the Your reality. These people will continue going forth in Your strength. Because of the work that shall be wrought in them, the conquest of their soul, they will be beautified and will go forth in Your strength. These ones have a passion for your glory, My Lord Jesus. They will go in the power of the Spirit of God that they have received and wherever they go, they shall conquer for You. Because they have a passion for Your glory, all of them will be willing and become favourable to you”. This was what David was saying to Jesus. Beloved, This was what was prophesied about you, thousands of years before you were conceived and in you, this prophecy will be fulfilled.

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, before I was even born, You knew me. Before I was conceived in my mothers womb, You had ordained that I will be made in Your image and after Your likeness, one who will bring rest to Your feet. Therefore I worship You today and forever. Thank you for giving Your life to me and making a way for Me to know You. I am confident in Your ability to complete whatever You start, therefore I rejoice today, because I know I am a person created and formed to reveal Your glory. I yield myself to you, Make me into all You have spoken of Me in the beginning. Amen
