The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters – His voice is like the sound of many waters. This means that His voice is powerful, overwhelming—in the best way—and able to rise above every other sound.
“The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters.”
—Psalm 93:3–4 KJV
There are levels to this. Yes, the enemy tries to use the very elements God created—like storms, floods, noise, and fear—to cause confusion. But God is still in charge. He’s the one who created all things, and He has complete control over them. He can calm the storm with just one word. He can walk on water while the waves rage. And when we lift Him up and trust Him, that same power becomes available to us.
His voice is greater than every other voice. In the middle of every storm, His voice is still the one that has the final say. When things around us get loud—when problems rise like crashing waves—God’s Word can break through it all. It brings peace. It silences the noise. It reminds everything around us who is truly in charge.
God’s voice sounds like many waters because it can rule over many waters. His Word speaks into every situation. It answers every problem. No matter what’s coming against you, God’s Word can cut through it.
When the storm rises, there is always one voice that can rise higher. That’s His voice. And when He speaks, peace follows.
Our victory in the middle of the storm comes down to this:
Can we hear His voice? And do we believe it?
God says:
- Be still
- Know that I am God
That means we have to pause. Listen. Trust.
Jesus said His sheep know His voice. They won’t follow a stranger. That tells us something important: there will be other voices—other thoughts, fears, opinions, lies—but we must learn to focus. We have to recognize His voice above all the rest. That’s the voice that brings peace. That’s the voice that breaks the storm.
“The voice of the LORD is upon the waters… The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.”
—Psalm 29:3–4 KJV
His voice shakes the wilderness. It breaks the strongest trees. It cuts through fire and floods. That’s how strong God’s Word is.
So in the storm, don’t just wait for it to pass—listen.
Speak His Word. Believe it in your heart. Let it shape your words. Let it shape your thoughts.
The real question is this:
Do you really believe what God has said?
Lord, Your voice is stronger than every storm. Teach me to be still, to listen, and to trust what You’ve spoken. Let me hear You above the noise, and believe that Your Word is enough to bring peace. I rest in the truth that You are King over the flood.
Amen.
